Thursday, November 26 - Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

We arrived in Guatemala shortly after our coffee on Thursday. It was explained to us that there really was not a lot to do locally and it was not recommended that you wander around out side of the immediate port area.

So we went looking for souvenirs and free WiFi.  The area adjacent to where the shipped docked was very nice and well laid out for the local artisans to sell their wares. We were successful in both challenges, Diane purchased a top (oops maybe 2 or 3?),  price was "almost free :)" actually very reasonable and they do look great!

It was VERY warm and muggy so we decided to re-hydrate with a cold beer.  Hmm only 10:30 in the morning and I've had my first beer of the day, interesting.  Oh well, we are on vacation, right? So what do you do when you are having a beer early in the day, why you put sun glasses on your coconut drink and take pictures right? I think we should get back on board. :) Instead we visited a small jade museum that was part of the port facility.  Though it was small it was very interesting.  Of course you could purchase jade if you wished, sorry no sale here.

Diane had her picture taken beside an East West Palm Tree, which evidently is not a true palm tree.  Information: "Ravenala madagascariensis aka the "traveler's palm", is a striking and unusual plant but it is not truly a palm tree. It's a Strelitzia, a relative of the bird of paradise." Learned something new, hmmmm...

It was time to head back to the ship, don't want to miss lunch now do we!

The rest of the day we spent lounging around the pools enjoying the cocktails of the day.  Very nice and relaxing!!

Following dinner we were entertained by a piano player.  Not really my cup of tea but he did play well.  Off to bed!!
